Fall Card with Autumn Accents Bigz Die and My Fire Story

Hi Blogging Friends!!!

Made this card today, for my club that is next week. I was inspired by a Mary Fish card that she made last month. I really love the color combo of this paper and have just fallen in love with "Island Indigo"

Do you want to make this card? or just use this layout?
Here are the measurements:

Main card base "More Mustard" 5.5 x 4.25
"Island Indigo" piece 4 -1/16 x 5 5/16
Strips of DSP 15/16 x 2 11/16
I just hand cut the strips of Vanilla to fit the words

The color in the DSP is Lucky Limeade, but I only had a few pieces of that paper left so I used Old Olive and I think matches great. I also link up with "52 Card Pick Up" week 42. Its all about making a card every week and sharing it with friends.

I also want share with you about a fire that we had in our Master Bathroom about 2 weeks ago. The fan motor caught fire after midnight, it's a good thing I was up late watching TV in my Bedroom. I heard a funny noise and thought that my son Calvin was up playing around and I yelled out to him to go to bed.... and he said nothing but I could still hear the noise. I got up and as I was going to talk to my son I saw fire dripping like rain from the ceiling and started screaming!!!!! My Husband flew out of bed and went to get the fire extinguisher ..... but guess what!?? it was out in our Garage (we have a detached garage) So I was fighting the fire with wet towels and turning on the shower. The smell of burning plastic was so strong!!! I was chocking. My Husband got there with the fire extinguisher and started putting out the fire and then yelled out to me that he was not going to be able to get it out!!! I then called 911. My Husband was able to get the fire out with fire extinguisher and a big bottle of water that he had to put into the fan vent.

This is what it looked like after the Fire Department was there. They cut the sheet rock away and took out some of the insulation out that was still smoking. The Fire Department was here for almost 2 hours... I think. I got to bed about 4am. We decided not to go to a Hotel because of our Cats, they were so freaked out. When my boys took them out of the house they ran off and they are inside only cats. We did find them about an hour later and my son put them in the car.

The fan that was in our bathroom was manufactured by NuTone, if you want that info.

This is what my bathroom counter looked liked the next day.

So I just wanted to share a few tips with you that I learned.

1. Everyone needs more then one fire extinguisher, three or four would be a good start, kitchen and one in the bathroom or Master bedroom so you can grab it much faster and don't have to go looking for it. One in the garage.

2. My Husband and I both were too busy fighting the fire to call 911, so we have talked to the boys (10 and 14) about next time, my older son will grab the cordless phone and call 911. I think it was 5 to 8 minutes before I called 911, and it took them 7 minutes to get here.

3. Pick a Holiday to change the batteries in the smoke detector, we picked 4th of July. I thought that was a perfect Holiday; fireworks---fire! We have done that every year for the last 9 years.

I just want all my friends to be safe so if you need to make these changes PLEASE DO!!!

We are all doing good, it has been a few crazy weeks!

Googly Ghouls Card and my Halloween Tree!!!

WOW only 11 days until Halloween!!

I have been working hard on my house decorating like crazy. I had over 25 totes of Halloween stuff and I unpacked them all!!! I just love having Halloween lights all bright and blinking in my house. It just makes me happy, I walk around in the dark and look at them!! LOL I know Crazy Lady!

This card was a lot of fun. I made it for my card club last month. The girls loved it, and what a super cute layout. I think it is an old Mojo Monday layout.

I used cheese cloth to make flower behind the "Treats for Boo". Yes flower, I took a 1 inch strip of the cheese cloth and rolled it then used hot glue to put it in the shape of a flower.

I used black ink and then colored in the pumpkin. I also added crystal effects to the top so it looks like a brad. The bow is also cheese cloth!!!! So COOL!

I got an email today from one of my Blogging friends SherryBee in AZ asking to see my Halloween Tree. So Sherry here it is!!!

I am taking the pictures at night and they did not turn out that clear. This picture shows the lights, white stars and tons of purple lights.

Do you see the little candy corn bear hanging on the wall? I got that at a garage sale this summer for 50 cents! Ahhh its so cute! I also got the pumpkin and cat face ornaments last year at JoAnn's on clearance Reg 3.99 and got them for 70 cents each.

Monster Munches and Tricky Treats Halloween Cards and Madonna!!!

Hi Blogging Friends

Just another Halloween card to share. I made this card for my Stampin Club this last week. Kim found this really cute paper for $1.00 at Walmart, it's "Studio G" with 4-12x12 pieces and 4-8x8 pieces... wow and so cute too!! They also had buttons and ribbon to match the paper all for $1.00. The orange button is from one of the packs.

I had forgot that stampin up had retired the small tag punch, but it works perfect with this stamp set.

Do you want to make this card??? Here are the measurements...

Tangerine Tango- main card 4.25 x 5.5
Black 4 x 5.25
2 Designer Papers 3.75 x 1.5
1 Elegant Eggplant 3.75 x 1.75
1 White 3.75 x 1.5
Scraps of Tangerine tango and White for Tag.

The orange ribbon is from Michael's Craft Store, I got it for 1.99 on sale and it has 10 yards on the spool.

Then Rachel came over with more paper and wanted to make some invites for a friend. So I cut them out and she put them together. The spider is Jolee's boutique. The paper is Recollections "Haunted Estate" both green and purple cards.

The spider web and potion bottle are both Walmart stamps a pack of 4 for 97 cents. The Halloween ribbon is also from Michael's.

The skull is also from Jolee's boutique Halloween collection.

The witch stamp is an oldie but goodie from stampin up, called bitty boos.
