Jolly Old Saint Nick Card ~ Techno Sketch Challenge

I bought this stamp set 2 weeks ago, but it did not get to me until last night because of all the snow. I had to make a card with it right away, I don't think it was in the house an hour and I was making this card for Mary Jo at Techno Stamper. She has a great Sketch Challenge this week and I wanted to get a jump on it and have it done, mostly to beat Terry Su lol.

This is Mary Jo's 150th Sketch Challenge!!! Congrats Mary Jo.. You go girl!
I tried to give him a gold belt buckle, next time I think I will use silver. My gold pen was not working that great, Darn it! Plus I think that silver will go more with that glitter.
I have to say that these two punches are my favorite and I used them the most, scallop oval and small oval punches. The scallop oval is also one of Shelli's favorites.

Stamp sets:
Jolly Old Saint Nick 6pc set Holiday Mini 2010
Ink and Paper Colors:

Accessories:

"Have a Seat" Stamping 411 Sketch

This is only the second card I have made with this set, and I have to say its pretty darn cute! My friend Deanna had this set and I just got it back tonight. I don't know what it is about this chair stamp set but I really like, and Deanna keeps trying to steal it. lol Or maybe just keep it for a long time hoping that I will forget about it.
I was thinking about doing a scrapbook page when I first saw this sketch, but I just got done doing 6 pages of the kids at the zoo. So here is the card. lol
I really like the sketch challenges at Stamping 411. They are creative and simple but still can be a Wow! card. Plus is that a cute name for a blog or what!!
I have not used this flower punch much, so I dusted it off and used it. It really goes with this flower paper that I used from last years Catalog.

Grunge Rock Card

I was thinking these colors would make a good rock and roll card. (Yep I do think sometimes) lol So I got my new stamp set" Grunge Rock" out. I had not even used it yet I had gotten it a few weeks ago and with all the holidays its not really a stamp set you go to. I went over the Techno Stamper to find a cool sketch challenge. Terry had told me about her blog and said to take a look at it.. and so here is the card using her sketch challenge.

I stamped the guitar in silver and cut it out and used dimensionals to pop it up. I wanted to use silver embossing powder but my desk is a big mess tonight and did not want to get that stuff out, I am sure you know what I mean. lol

In the close up you can see that I used a lot of pearls and rhinestones on the crown and guitar.

Here is the sketch from Techno Stamper Mary Jo. Just hop over to her blog and join in the sketch challenge.

Here you can see that I used the Texturz plates, it was hard to get a picture of it, I am not sure if it was because it was silver or what.
Stamp Sets:
Grunge Rock
Newsprint Alphabet (retired)
Inks and Paper Colors:
Real red, Basic black, Silver and White.
Accessories:
Circle punches 7/8 and 3/4, Real red 5/8 Grosgrain ribbon,

Thanksgiving Day Place Cards

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! My Husband made Thanksgiving dinner this year, he is a really good cook. These are pictures of his Pumpkin Pie that he made with his home grown pumpkins. Its tastes so good, what I liked about it was that it was not as sweet as some of the pies that you can buy. That way you can really taste the pumpkin. Yum!

While Harold (my Husband) was cooking Dinner I made these name place cards. I used the fall set called "French Foliage" I used the Rock and Roll Technique.

Stamp sets:
French Foliage
Newsprint alphabet Set (retired)
Ink and Paper Colors:
Peach parfait, Cajun craze, More mustard,
Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate chip and Vanilla paper.

Happy Turkey Day!

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday aka WOYWW #77

I found this church music box at a Garage Sale for FREE! yep Free. lol But I really did not know what I was going to do with it at first. But we have been snowed in for the last 3 days so I took it out and started painting it.

Here it is after I painted it all white about 3 coats.

Here it is all done, I used a lot of Silver Glitter on the roof . I think it looks great.

After I painted the windows and the bottom of it, I put some walnut colored stain on it to give it an aged look. I also sanded it a little before I stained it.
Some pictures of the snow in my yard, we got more snow then this, but the problem was that it was so cold for the next two nights that the roads were just all ice and with no Studded tires on my car yet,  I have been stuck at home for a few days and hope to get the studs on today.

For all you that came by last week and saw the big mess on my desk..... hmmm Its still there .. Just out of site of this picture. If you are just stopping by and want to join in on the fun with Julia's blog.. WOYWW.. go now.. don't say No.. Say yes yes!

This week I am #47
Thanks all my WOYWW'er Friends

Update Update... I did make it out today.. and guess what.. I got stuck trying to make it up a hill.. kind of did a half donut turning around.... OMG but that made my car point down the hill and that is right where I wanted to be.. so on my home I went.. then on another hill there was a guy stuck right in the middle of it and I could not get around him.. so there I was stuck on the hill with my 8 year old son in tow. We sat there for about an hour and a guy with a really big truck stopped and towed me up the hill.. I started writing him a check to give to him and he said "no he did not want it.." I begged him to take it he said "no.. just next time I see someone in need .. to help them out.!" What a nice guy.. :)

Snow Buddies Card with Twig arms

Hi Stamping Friends!!!

I really had fun with this Snowman Card. I wanted to make those little hats again with the mittens and I used some twigs out of my yard for the arms. I am really not sure how this card will do in the mail, lol but you can always give it away.

To make the mitten hats all you have to do is cut the tips of the fingers off and fold them than add them to your card. You can also use old socks, by cutting them and using Hot Glue to put them on. I would take a piece of wire and twist it at the top of the hat then cut little strips to make the pom pom.

I wanted it to look like snow behind them that is why I picked this DSP Candy Cane Christmas snowflake paper. I just love this paper, I might have to buy another pack of it. I did use a piece of white paper behind the border punch to make it pop a little more.

Stamp sets:
Snow Buddies Hostess from the Stampin Up Holiday Mini 2009
Ink Colors:
Basic gray, Real red
Paper Colors:
Blushing bride, Baja Breeze, White, Real red
Accessories:
Markers same as paper plus Pumpkin pie, Jumbo red button,
Red 1/8 taffeta ribbon, Dazzling diamonds glitter,
Red mittens, twigs, Perfect polka dots embossing folder,
Scallop trim border punch.

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday WOYWW

Here are a few pictures of the Snowmen I made last week, but this is the finished picture. Do you like?? Old socks and mittens can come in handy sometimes. lol

Just used sticks from my yard.. and my kids socks and mittens for the hats.

I just used old buttons that I have collected over the years, I have thousands of them.

I painted the ginger girl on both sides she has different buttons on the other side.

This is my little area that I was selling some of my stuff at in a bazaar last weekend. Its mostly just stuff around my house I did not want anymore and I was trying to sell it.

I don't know if you can see it but that little shelf that is pulled out on my desk, it has some ink pads on it. Sometimes that is all the space I have to make stuff.. cuz my desk is so messy.. lol

This is just an over view of the mess.. OMG.. its bad this week.. lol

Thanks for coming to see my desk and the work that I am up to this week.. if you want to see more just jump over to Julia's Blog.. and there is so so so much more to see..

Love you WOYWW'ers.....

Greeting Card Girl Card

I have to say that this stamp set is my Favorite stamp set in the Stampin Up Idea book and Catalog this season. I really love the vintage feel of this set. I really hope that SU comes out with more stamp set this style. She reminds me of all those really cute vintage post cards and cute ornaments that you can buy. I am going to have to get some kind of Christmas Tree and use this stamp set as the ornaments.

I made this card for a club meeting for my down line. She said it was the biggest hit of all the stuff they made. I got this idea from a card that Mary Fish made a few months ago and had to make my own version of it. I don't think you can go wrong with this stamp set.. if you don't have it yet... Better put it at the Top of your list!

Holiday Hoopla Card

This card turned out cute. I just got this set this week and put it right to use. I got the idea from the new Holiday mini. I just changed the stamp set and a few other things. What I like about this card is using the white and sponging on the sides to make it look snowy.

Here is a close up of how cool that new Champagne Glass Glitter looks.. "Yummy" as my friend Deanna aways says.

This card was made for a Stamp Club, what is great about it..its super cute and not a lot of layers plus fast to make. The girls said it was adorable and one of the girls bought the set.

I am not sure about all you but I am really lovein' that Stampin Up started making the sets in clear. The storage is so great and they stamp the same crisp image. Something I did for this club, I put a little snail on one of those real mini stamps.. and it stayed the on that block all night.

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday aka WOYWW

WOW its that time again.. Here are my little guys I started last week I am still not done with them yet. I still need to paint there rosie cheeks and get some sticks from the yard for the snowman arms. Plus I have ton's of buttons to put on all these cute little guys. I stuck on a few for you to see what they are going to look like but they will all be different.

I used to make wood crafts all the time... Years and Years ago, and I really miss it. So I kinda started easy with just snowmen and gingerbread girl. I have plans to make more things but all are Christmas stuff right now.

Here I am making there little hats out of socks and old mittens. You can see that I cut the finger off that red mitten and I made one look like a cap and the other have that pom pom look (top pic). I just used hot glue to put them on. I use a wire (like floral wire) to tie the top of the hat real tight then cut the strips for the pom pom. The last time I made these snowmen my Daughter lived at home.. (she was maybe 13) she is 21 now, anyway I had so many more cool colors of socks to chose from.. now I have boys so when I looked for socks they were all black and white..  lol

Here is where I am painting the rest of the little snowmen. You can see how they do look much cuter with hats on.. wait until you see them with the stick arms, I will have to take a pic and show you all next week..

Thank you for looking and if you did not come over from Julia's blog... HOP over and see all the other cool desks and what everyone is up to.

Pirate Card

ARRRRRRR! Its Pirate Time! What a great color combo for a Pirate Card. I really like how this card came together. I bought some black waffle paper for Halloween and never used it, so here I am using in the Fall.

It has taken me more then a year to like Melon Mambo.. But I think it is starting to grow on me!! lol

I used the "Rock and Roll Technique that I love and use a lot. I took the paint splater stamp and used Melon mambo ink and then rocked it into Basic grey. I used glimmer brads again, I really hope Stampin Up puts them in the next Idea Book and Catalog.
